US wholesale trade sales rise 0.2% in April to $652.8B

ISTANBUL

Wholesale trade sales in the US rose 0.2% in April to $652.8 billion, compared to the previous month, according to Commerce Department figures released Thursday.

Wholesale trade sales, also known as the total sales of merchant wholesalers, were expected to show a monthly gain of 0.4%. The figure for March was revised from a decline of 2.1% to a decrease of 2.7%.

On an annual basis, wholesale trade sales in April were down 3.4% compared to the same month of last year.

Wholesale inventories, meanwhile, fell 0.1% to $915.7 billion at the end of April, the Commerce Department said in a statement.

The figure, which measures the change in the total value of goods held in inventory by wholesalers, was expected to show a decline of 0.2% in April.

Wholesale inventories remained almost unchanged at $918.5 billion at the end of March.

Annually, wholesale inventories were up 6.3% in April, from the same month of 2022.
