Türkiye’s oil imports down 3.63% in January 2023

Türkiye’s total oil imports decreased by 3.63% to 3.45 million tons in January, according to recent data released by the country’s energy watchdog.

Crude oil imports, the category with the highest oil import volume, fell by 13.6% in January to 2.25 million tons, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly report.

Türkiye imported the majority of its oil and oil product needs from Russia in January, totaling 1.18 million tons. Iraq and Kazakhstan followed with 917,656 tons and 683,740 tons, respectively.

Oil refinery product exports increased by 7.3% to 2.2 million tons, while output decreased by 10.8% to 2.68 million tons.

Total domestic oil product sales increased by 7.31% year over year in January to 275,594 million tons.
