Türkiye’s total oil imports decreased by 3.4% to 4.19 million tons in December 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, according to recent data released by the country’s energy watchdog on Thursday.
Crude oil imports, the category with the highest oil import volume, declined by 14.7% in December 2024 to 2.47 million tons, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly report.
Türkiye imported the majority of its crude oil and oil product needs from Russia in December 2024, totaling 3.51 million tons. Iraq and Kazakhstan followed with 392,353 tons and 198,033 tons, respectively.
Oil refinery product exports decreased by 21.2% to 1.33 million tons.
Additionally, domestic oil product sales decreased by 1.1% year-over-year in December 2024 to 2.74 million tons.
