Türkiye’s largest private natural gas production company TBNG to drill 5 new wells

Türkiye’s largest private natural gas production company, Thrace Basin Natural Gas Türkiye Corporation (TBNG), will start drilling five new wells in Tekirdag in the country’s East Thrace region and Silivri in the Sea of Marmara, the company announced on Friday.

Deliveries of 250,000 cubic meters of natural gas per day are already transmitted via the company’s own pipeline to companies in the Tekirdag region.

The company has produced 3.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas in Türkiye over the last 40 years.

‘TBNG will increase its monthly production by 25% by starting to drill five new wells in Tekirdag and Silivri,’ a written company statement read.

Sinan Furat, CEO of TBNG, advocated for Türkiye’s rich hydrocarbon resources to be extracted and processed for consumption and urged decision-makers to quickly resolve both the extension periods of existing licenses and new license requests to benefit the country.

He said the company is proud to contribute to the security of energy supplies and to reduce the share of the country’s energy imports.

He added that ‘new wells mean that our national natural gas is put into use, the capacity in the Thrace field has increased, and new reserves have been found at different points in the Thrace region.’
