Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 2.5% on Oct. 6

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased 2.5% on Tuesday compared to the previous day, totaling 942,406 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Wednesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 44,381 megawatt-hours at 8 p.m. local time (1700 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 31,394 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 949,410 megawatt-hours on Tuesday, marking a rise of about 3.2% compared to the previous day.

Electricity production from hydroelectric power plants accounted for around 21.8% of total generation, while imported coal and lignite plants contributed 20.6% and 13%, respectively.

On Tuesday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 8,504 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 1657 megawatt-hours.
