Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 18.2% on Aug. 31

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by around 18.2% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,085,809 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 52,638 megawatt-hours at 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 33,821 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 1,109,042 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking an increase of about 17.8% compared to the previous day.

Electricity production from dam-based hydroelectricity plants accounted for around 23.1% of total generation, while imported coal and solar power plants contributed 20.6% and 14%, respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 23,528 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 302 megawatt-hours.
