Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 17.3% on Dec. 16

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by 17.3% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,016,423 megawatt-hours, according to official figures from the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 50,336 megawatt-hours at 12 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 30,180 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 1,032,283 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking an increase of 16.5% compared to Sunday.

Electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 30.5% of total generation, while imported coal and hydroelectric power plants contributed 21.8% and 12.7%, respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 16,010 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 119 megawatt-hours.
