Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 15.9% on March 18

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by 15.9% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 896,378 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 42,039 megawatt-hours at 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 30,211 megawatt-hours at 4 a.m. local time (0100 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 893,819 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking a rise of 15.8% compared to Sunday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants constituted 24.9% of total generation, while natural gas and hydroelectricity plants contributed 20.3% and 14.8%, respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 5,613 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 8,172 megawatt-hours.
