Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 13% on Sept. 14

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by around 13% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,048,460 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 50,540 megawatt-hours at 12 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 32,579 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 1,070,039 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking a rise of about 12.3% compared to the previous day.

Electricity production from dam-based hydro plants accounted for around 24.1% of total generation, while imported coal plants and solar plants contributed 21.7% and 14.8%, respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 21,993 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 409 megawatt-hours.
