Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 13.3% on May 6

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by 13.3% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 856,756 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 40,929 megawatt-hours at 9 p.m. local time (1800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 27,423 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 853,442 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking an increase of 13.2% compared to Sunday.

Electricity production from hydroelectricity plants constituted 21.6% of total generation, while imported coal plants and run-of-river hydroelectric plants contributed 15.2% and 13%, respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 4,222 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 7,539 megawatt-hours.
