Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 12.5% on Sept. 11

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by 12.5% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 941,347 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 44,788 megawatt-hours at 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 31,290 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 929,719 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking an increase of 12.9% compared to Sunday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants constituted 21.6% of total generation, while wind and natural gas plants contributed 20% and 16.6%, respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 5,739 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 17,367 megawatt-hours.
