Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 1% on Aug. 5

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by around 1% on Wednesday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,206,547 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Thursday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 56,954 megawatt-hours at 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 39,837 megawatt-hours at 6 a.m. local time (0300 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 1,228,916 megawatt-hours on Wednesday, marking a rise of about 1% compared to the previous day.

Production from dam-based hydroelectricity plants accounted for around 20% of total generation, while imported coal plants and solar power plants contributed 19.4% and 14.8%, respectively.

On Wednesday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 24,503 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 2,188 megawatt-hours.
