Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 9.1% on Aug. 18

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye declined by 9.1% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 962,638 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 45,163 megawatt-hours at 9 p.m. local time (1800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 33,110 megawatt-hours at 8 a.m. local time (0500 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 960,473 megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking a decrease of 9% compared to Saturday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants constituted 23.2% of total generation, while natural gas plants and hydropower plants contributed 19.1% and 13.7%, respectively.

On Sunday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 14,375 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 16,493 megawatt-hours.
