Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 8% on Aug. 2

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by around 8% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,012,491 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 48,038 megawatt-hours at 9 p.m. local time (1800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 36,345 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 1,035,107 megawatt-hours on Sunday marking a fall of about 6.6% compared to the previous day.

Production from imported coal plants accounted for around 18.4% of total generation, while dam-based hydroelectricity plants and solar energy contributed 17.9% and 17.5%, respectively.

On Sunday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 25,018 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 2,342 megawatt-hours.
