Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 8.7% on July 21

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by 8.7% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,035,069 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 47,595 megawatt-hours at 9 p.m. local time (1800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 35,689 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 1,037,425 megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking a fall of 8.5% compared to Saturday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants constituted 23.3% of total generation, while natural gas plants and hydroelectricity plants contributed 20.4% and 16.3%, respectively.

On Sunday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 9,033 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 6,641 megawatt-hours.
