Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 4.4% on Aug. 1

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by around 4.4% on Saturday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,100,501 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Sunday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 50,343 megawatt-hours at 9 p.m. local time (1800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 38,527 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 1,108,645 megawatt-hours on Saturday, marking a fall of about 4.1% compared to the previous day.

Production from dam-based hydroelectricity plants accounted for around 19.8% of total generation, while wind plants and imported coal plants contributed 18.5% and 16.8%, respectively.

On Saturday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 10,317 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 2,228 megawatt-hours.
