Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 3.4% on Aug. 22

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by around 3.4% on Saturday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,133,589 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Sunday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 52,144 megawatt-hours at 9 p.m. local time (1800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 39,288 megawatt-hours at 6 a.m. local time (0300 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 1,155,937 megawatt-hours on Saturday, marking a decrease of about 3.3% compared to the previous day.

Electricity production from dam-based hydroelectricity plants accounted for around 22.3% of total generation, while imported coal and natural gas plants contributed 20.5% and 16.5%, respectively.

On Saturday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 24,348 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 2,005 megawatt-hours.
