Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 2.3% on May 6

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by around 2.3% on Wednesday compared to the previous day, totaling 938,142 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Thursday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 43,965 megawatt-hours at 12 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 32,875 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 942,327 megawatt-hours on Wednesday, marking a fall of about 2.1% compared to the previous day.

Electricity production from dam-based hydropower plants accounted for around 30.6% of total generation, while natural gas and solar plants contributed 15.2% and 14.6%, respectively.

On Wednesday, the country’s electricity exports totaled 5,917 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 1,594 megawatt-hours.
