August 2, 2025 4:39 pmTürkiye, Azerbaijan, Qatar and Syria announced on Saturday the official opening of the Türkiye-Syria Natural Gas Pipeline, marking the start of natural gas deliveries from Azerbaijan to Syria through Turkish territory.
In a joint statement shared on the X account of the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the pipeline, which connects Kilis in southern Türkiye to Aleppo in northern Syria, has a daily transport capacity of up to 6 million cubic meters (mcm).
The restored natural gas pipeline, completed in record time, is part of a broader effort to support Syria’s post-conflict reconstruction and regional energy integration.
“This marks a milestone of regional solidarity and a significant step in strengthening ties among our nations,” the four countries said in a joint statement released during the ceremony on August 2.
The State of Qatar is providing financial support for electricity generation in Syria through the Qatar Fund for Development.
The new gas flow is expected to boost output at the Aleppo Power Plant, significantly increasing electricity availability in the war-torn region.
Officials say the project carries both humanitarian and strategic significance, aiming to improve living conditions in Syria while fostering long-term regional cooperation.
“Our countries reaffirm their commitment to advancing peace, stability and prosperity in the region,” the joint statement read, emphasizing the goal of cooperation over division and mutual trust over conflict.
