Türkiye, Algeria expands partnership in energy

by Anadolu Agency

Algeria’s state-owned oil and gas company Sonatrach and Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) discussed long-term trade relations within the framework of liquefied natural gas (LNG) purchase and sale contracts and ways to expand the partnership on Sunday.

Sonatrach announced in a written statement that Rachid Hachichi, CEO of Sonatrach, and Abdulvahit Fidan, Chairman of BOTAS, met in Algeria.

During the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen their commercial relationship and discussed the possibility of extending their partnership and exploring new business opportunities.

Sonatrach has been supplying LNG to the BOTAS since 1988, notably through the Marmara terminal, initially built to receive Algerian LNG.

Algeria and Türkiye signed a contract in 2020 for the supply of LNG to Türkiye in an amount of up to 4.4 billion cubic meters per year.
