Turkish stocks up at opening session

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Monday at 4,532.6 points, up by 0.69%, or 30.87 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed the last week at 4,501.73 points, falling sharply by 3.43%, with a daily trading volume of 54.3 billion Turkish liras ($2.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 19.8236 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 21.4599, while a British pound traded for 24.6470 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $74.71 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,978.45.
