Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Nepal’s Prime Minister Sharma Oli discussed bilateral ties Thursday as well as regional and global issues in a call, Türkiye’s Communications Directorate wrote on X.
Stressing the importance of strengthening relations, Erdogan highlighted the need for concrete steps, notably in economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
He also noted Türkiye’s active diplomatic efforts to promote peace in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Ukraine and Syria, emphasizing Ankara’s efforts to stop renewed Israeli attacks in Gaza and restore a ceasefire.
Oli expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s leadership in its crucial role in ensuring regional stability and achieving lasting peace in the region, the Nepalese Foreign Ministry wrote on X.
He noted the “goodwill and support” of Türkiye “for the release of Mr. Bipin Joshi who has been held hostage by the Hamas since October 7, 2023,” the ministry stated.
Erdogan “assured” that he would exert his best efforts to help secure Joshi’s release, it added.
