Turkish organization distributes Eid al-Adha meat among vulnerable Muslims in South Sudan

JUBA, South Sudan

Türkiye Diyanet Foundation on Sunday distributed meat among about 2,000 vulnerable Muslims in South Sudan on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Turkish Ambassador to South Sudan Erdem Mutaf said that their developmental and aid agencies are always active in South Sudan to reach needy people across the country.

While handing over meat to vulnerable Muslims in the capital Juba, Mutaf said that Türkiye Diyanet Foundation representatives organized the meat distribution activity in cooperation with the South Sudan Islamic Council.

“I appreciate Türkiye Diyanet Foundation as well as South Sudan Islamic Council for the cooperation with our embassy to enable us to reach the needy people in South Sudan. This cooperation is a symbol of the Turkish nation’s love and affection for the South Sudanese nation, and this aid is possible with the voluntary contribution of Turkish people,” the envoy added.

He said the foundation has organized meat distribution activities at 30 different locations in Central Equatoria state where the Capital city is based.

Selahattin Aydin, a representative of the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, said they are reaching out with donations to needy people in several parts of the country.

Abdalla Baraj, secretary-general of the South Sudan Islamic Council, appreciated the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, the Turkish government, and the people for this generous support to the needy people in South Sudan.
