Turkish solar panel company Elin Energy plans to establish a solar panel production factory in the US with an annual production capacity of 1,000 megawatts, according to Elin Energy chairman Arda Yali on Wednesday.

During the Intersolar Europe Conference and Fair in Munich, Yali revealed in an exclusive interview with Anadolu that the company is considering either the state of Texas or Georgia for its factory construction given the potential in these regions.

Yali confirmed that the factory, once complete next year, will be one of the top five in the US in terms of annual production capacity and will operate under the name ‘Sirius PV USA.’

‘Except for the state decision, all purchases and contracts for the services have been completed,’ he said.

With two factories already established in Türkiye, the company has increased its R&D investments in PV technology and has become the leader among the largest solar panel manufacturers in Europe.

The expansion into the US market comes at a time when solar energy is experiencing unprecedented popularity worldwide.

According to Yali, the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy has finally found its place, and countries around the world are working to build an emission-free future.

He also described solar energy as an important tool in combating climate change.

In keeping with Türkiye’s aim of alignment with the Paris Climate Agreement, Yali is hopeful to instigate the goal of zero carbon emissions with suppliers and business partners by 2053.

He emphasized that the cost advantages of solar panels have also encouraged millions of people to install rooftop PV systems in their homes and workplaces to access the most affordable electricity.
