LONDON
London and Manchester are set to reverberate with enchanting melodies as the “Spirit of Istanbul” concerts take center stage in December.
The concerts are organized by the Turkish Consulate in Manchester, the auspices of the Yunus Emre Institute in London and with the support of Turkish Airlines and the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office UK (GoTürkiye).
The event marks a significant cultural celebration as part of the centenary festivities of the Republic of Türkiye and the current custodians of Istanbul’s musical heritage.
Renowned musicians will grace the stage, each a master of their craft and well-known for their invaluable contributions to the world of music with their cultural-specific instruments.
Goksel Baktagir on the qanun, Yurdal Tokcan on the oud, Derya Turkan on the kemenche, and Bulent Elmas on the percussion will lead the audience on an unforgettable journey through the sounds that encapsulate the spirit of Istanbul.
Through the harmonious blend of the qanun, oud, kemenche and percussion instruments, the musical heritage of Istanbul will weave its way into the hearts of audiences on the 11 and 13 of December 2023 at London’s prestigious EartH Theatre and Manchester Cathedral.
