Turkish energy company Margun Enerji has acquired the Izmir Seferihisar Geothermal Power Plant (GPP) from RSC Elektrik for approximately $16 million (605 million Turkish liras), the company announced Monday.
The Seferihisar plant, with an installed capacity of 12 megawatts, increases Margun Enerji’s total installed capacity, including its subsidiaries, to 330 megawatts, the company said in a statement.
Commenting on the deal, Margun Enerji’s CEO Sami Ozgur Bostan emphasized that the investment will further strengthen the company’s position in the renewable energy sector.
‘Our investments in renewable energy and climate technologies are continuing at full speed in line with our sustainability approach,’ Bostan added.
‘This geothermal energy investment increases our production capacity, reinforces our strong position in the sector, and contributes to reducing our carbon footprint,’ he added.
The company’s goal is to ‘maintain our leadership mission in climate technologies’ both in Türkiye and abroad, and to contribute to a sustainable future through investments, he explained.
