ANKARA
Arsenal and Barcelona qualified Wednesday for the 2022-23 UEFA Women’s Champions League semifinals.
England’s Arsenal beat their German opponents Bayern Munich 2-0 at London’s Emirates Stadium as home team players Frida Maanum and Stina Blackstenius scored in the first half of the quarterfinals’ second leg.
Maanum, who scored a spectacular goal outside the box, was named the player of the match.
Arsenal won 2-1 on aggregate.
Meanwhile Barcelona thrashed Roma 5-1 at Spotify Camp Nou to cruise into the semis in the Women’s Champions League, progressing 6-1 on aggregate.
Barcelona previously won the first leg 1-0 in Rome.
Fridolina Rolfo, a Barcelona forward, scored twice against Roma on Wednesday to be the player of the game.
Only two tickets are left for the semifinals.
On Thursday, Chelsea will face France’s Olympique Lyon at Stamford Bridge in London. The English club won the first leg 1-0 at Chambre OL Stadium in Decines-Charpieu.
Wolfsburg will play against Paris Saint-Germain at Volkswagen Arena on the same day.
The German team won the first leg 1-0 at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris.
The semifinals will be held on April 22-23 and April 29-30.
Eindhoven’s Philips Stadium, the home of Dutch club PSV, will stage this season’s Champions League final on June 3.
