Türkiye’s energy import bill rises 33.8% in August

Türkiye’s energy import bill rose 33.8% year-on-year to $6.46 billion in August, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Wednesday.

Energy imports stood at $4.83 billion in August last year.

The data shows that the overall import bill for the month, including energy and other items, increased 1.5% from a year earlier to $28.7 billion in August.

At $6.46 billion, energy accounted for 22.5% of the overall import figures in Türkiye in August.

Crude oil imports saw a 1.1% decrease to 2.84 million tons in August, compared to 2.87 million tons in August 2025.
