Türkiye and the UK on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding on “Energy and Climate Dialogue,” announced Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar in London.
Türkiye and the UK partnered on an “Energy and Climate Dialogue” to advance clean energy transition, development of a low-carbon hydrogen economy, grid modernization, regional interconnections, and small modular reactors,’ Bayraktar said in an X post following a meeting with UK’s Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband.
“We continue to sign agreements and plan investments that will position our country as a central hub in energy, with determination and focus,” Bayraktar wrote, sharing photos from the meeting.
“I hope this agreement, which strengthens our energy security and independence, will benefit both nations,” Bayraktar added.
As part of his London visit, Bayraktar will attend an investor meeting on green financing organized by JP Morgan, where he is expected to engage with representatives from the global energy sector.
The Turkish energy minister is also expected to hold discussions with senior officials from UK Export Finance (UKEF), Rolls Royce, and bp.
On Wednesday, Bayraktar was in Germany for the 6th Turkish-German Energy Forum where he encouraged German investors to join Türkiye’s plans for $100 billion in renewable energy investments by 2035.
