Türkiye’s electricity production in August decreased by around 1.53%, compared to the same period last year, data from the country’s energy watchdog showed on Monday.
Total electricity generation fell to around 31.21 million megawatt-hours (MWh) in August, Türkiye’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced in its latest electricity market report.
The country produced electricity from several sources including 26.7% from natural gas, 23.4% from imported coal, 17.1% from hydropower, 12.6% from lignite and 10.4% from wind.
Geothermal, biomass, solar power, hard coal, fuel oil and asphaltite generated the remaining share.
Electricity consumption in August increased to around 27.58 million MWh, marking a 4.11% rise year-on-year.
Installed electricity capacity rose by around 0.9% to 96,477 megawatts in August, relative to August 2023.
Natural gas power plants comprised 25.4% of electricity installed capacity, while hydropower and wind plants accounted for 24.7% and 12.6%, respectively.
Imported coal, lignite, biomass, geothermal, solar power, hard coal, asphaltite, fuel oil, naphtha, LNG and diesel also contributed to the installed capacity.
