Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 2.1% on May 16

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by 2.11% on Thursday compared to the previous day, totaling 914,757 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Friday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 43,433 megawatt-hours at 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 30,091 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 909,392 megawatt-hours on Thursday, marking a rise of 2.15% compared to Wednesday.

Electricity production from hydroelectricity plants constituted 20% of total generation, while imported coal and natural gas plants contributed 18% and 16.6%, respectively.

On Thursday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 6,588 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 11,953 megawatt-hours.
