As overseas voting continues for Türkiye’s parliamentary and presidential elections, officials are taking careful measures to protect ballots as they are taken to the country.

Ballot box committees have already been established in 73 countries and 156 foreign representations for over 3.4 million registered overseas voters, as Turks living abroad have started casting their votes.

Voting at overseas representations will end on May 9, while polling stations will remain open until May 14 at customs gates.

Three Turkish Airlines planes will carry the overseas votes cast in Europe to Türkiye’s capital Ankara by the day of the elections, May 14.

Diplomatic couriers and transport commissions will be accompanying the votes as they are brought to the Overseas District Election Board in Ankara under the supervision of law enforcement officers.

Representatives of political parties competing in the elections will also be able to observe at all stages of the voting process.

Ballots will be stored on the premises of the Overseas District Election Board until election day.

All overseas ballots will be opened simultaneously with domestic ones after the voting process is complete in Türkiye.
