A late goal by Mohamed Afsha sent Al Ahly to the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup semifinals Saturday where the Egyptian club will play Real Madrid.
Al Ahly beat the Seattle Sounders 1-0 at Tangier Stadium to make it to the final four in the tournament in Morocco.
Mohamed Afsha scored in the 88th minute as the Egyptian giants bagged the semifinal ticket against the US team.
In the other match, Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia booked their place in the semis after beating Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club 5-3 on penalties.
Brazilian club Flamengo will take on Al Hilal on Feb. 7. Meanwhile Al Ahly will meet Real Madrid on Feb. 8.
Defending South American champions Flamengo and last season’s UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid will join the tournament in the semis.
The 2022 Club World Cup will conclude Feb. 11 in Rabat.
Real Madrid qualified for the tournament for a sixth time, winning the title in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
England’s Chelsea, 2021 Club World Cup champions, failed defend the title in Morocco.
