ANKARA
US stocks closed higher Friday, ending a three-day losing streak.
The Dow jumped 199 points, or 0.59%, to close at 33,745.
While the S&P 500 rose 18 points, or 0.48%, to 3,965, the Nasdaq added just one point, or 0.01%, to 11,146.
Despite the daily gains, all three indices posted weekly losses.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 3.6% to 23.06. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 1.3% to 3.823%.
The dollar index rose 0.2% to 106.96, still around its highest in 20 years, while the euro lost 0.4% to $1.0323 against the greenback.
Precious metals were down, with gold falling 0.6% to $1,749 per ounce and silver losing 0.2% to $20.90.
Oil prices dropped around 2%. Global benchmark Brent crude traded at $87.82 per barrel for a loss of 2.2%. US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude was around $80.22 – down 1.7%.
