ANKARA
Italy won their UEFA Nations League A – Group 3 match Monday to advance to the European football tournament’s finals.
Italian forward Giacomo Raspadori scored the opener against Hungary in the 27th minute at Budapest’s Puskas Arena. Federico Dimarco finished in the far post as Italy doubled the lead in the second half.
Italy, which beat Hungary 2-0 in the away match, have 11 points in six matches to win League A – Group 3.
The Netherlands and Croatia previously secured a place in the finals after topping their League A groups.
Either Portugal or Spain will secure the last remaining berth for the knockout stage on Tuesday.
Portugal will face Spain in Braga to end the group phase in the 2022-23 Nations League.
The four League A group winners will be in the semis to be played on June 14-15, 2023. The final and the third-place playoff will be held on June 18.
In the other match Monday night, England drew with Germany 3-3 at Wembley Stadium in London.
The fans saw six goals scored in the second half.
Germany were leading the match 2-0 after Ilkay Gundogan and Kai Havertz scored, but England came back in 11 minutes.
Luke Shaw and Mason Mount scored to level the game. Harry Kane converted a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to give a 3-2 lead to England.
In the 87th minute, Havertz was in the area to finish after a rebound by English goalkeeper Nick Pope as Germany took a 3-3 draw in London.
England is sitting at the bottom of Group 3 with three points in six matches.
Winless in the six games, the Three Lions have already been relegated to League B in the Nations League.
