English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday signed Ivorian central defender Emmanuel Agbadou from France’s Stade de Reims.

“Wolves have made Stade de Reims central defender and captain Emmanuel Agbadou their first signing under Vitor Pereira.

“The Ivory Coast international, who joins on a four-and-a-half-year deal, which contains an additional 12-month option, moves having spent the past two-and-a-half seasons playing consistently in (French) Ligue 1,” Wolves said in a statement.

During a two-and-a-half-year spell at Reims, Agbadou played 80 matches and became the French team’s captain.

The 27-year-old had played for Belgium’s Eupen.

Wolves have 16 points in 20 matches to be 17th in the Premier League table.
