England’s West Ham United will take on Italian opponents Fiorentina in the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League final.
Visitors West Ham’s Spanish midfielder Pablo Fornals scored the winner near the end of the match against the Netherlands’ AZ Alkmaar on Thursday evening.
The English side won the second leg 1-0 in Alkmaar, which meant that West Ham won 3-1 on aggregate to be in this year’s Europa Conference League final.
In another semifinal match held Thursday, Fiorentina beat Swiss side Basel 3-1 in extra time.
Argentine midfielder Nicolas Gonzalez scored twice for Fiorentina.
Antonin Barak added one goal for the Italian team in the 130th minute of extra time to send Fiorentina to the Europa Conference League final in his native Czech Republic.
Zeki Amdouni scored for home team Basel at St. Jakob-Park.
Fiorentina won 4-3 on aggregate to reserve their place in the final in the third-tier Europa Conference League.
The Europa Conference League was inaugurated last season as Roma beat Feyenoord 1-0 to win the 2022 title in Tirana.
The Fiorentina versus West Ham final will be held at Prague’s Eden Arena on June 7.
The 2013 UEFA Super Cup was played at Eden Arena as Bayern Munich defeated Chelsea 5-4 on penalties.
Eden Arena, the home of Slavia Prague, can accommodate 20,800 spectators.
