Türkiye’s strong infrastructure, strategic location, and skilled workforce are key factors making it an attractive destination for foreign investors, said Ismail Ersahin, the CEO of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA).
‘Türkiye’s regional power, trade connections, and visionary leadership make it a highly attractive destination for investors,’ Ersahin told Anadolu on the sidelines of the 28th World Investment Conference (WIC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
‘Having a president who prioritizes investors and adopts a business-oriented perspective is a rare and significant advantage,’ he added.
Ersahin also emphasized the potential for value-added investments in Türkiye.
‘Türkiye, with its human resources, strong infrastructure, export experience, and trade agreements, offers tremendous investment opportunities,’ he added.
‘Newly announced strategies and incentives are paving the way for further growth. Current annual foreign direct investment inflows stand at approximately $11 billion, showcasing Türkiye’s regional power and trade advantages,’ he said.
– Focus on sustainable and green investments
Ersahin also highlighted sectors such as manufacturing, chemicals, automotive, R&D, and renewable energy as particularly attractive for investors, adding: ‘The pharmaceutical industry also presents significant opportunities.’
WAIPA, he noted, prioritizes green and sustainable investments. ‘We are committed to promoting green investments worldwide by enhancing the capacities of our investment agencies and supporting investors in this area,’ Ersahin added.
The WAIPA is the world’s sole international organization for investment and development agencies, Ersahin said.
‘With 136 members and a 14-country executive board, we aim to enhance investment capacities and promote collaboration,’ he added.
Highlighting the importance of the WIC, Ersahin noted that the conference hosted 2,500 participants, including 22 ministers and 20 ambassadors.
This year also marked the introduction of the WAIPA Excellence Awards, recognizing outstanding investment agencies.
‘WAIPA serves as a network and a platform for experience sharing. It brings together all institutions directly involved in investment,’ he noted.
‘Our goal is to support investment agencies in improving their capacities, offering ideal services, and ultimately increasing foreign direct investments,’ Ersahin added.
