Danish guard Iffe Lundberg led his team to victory with 21 points at Virtus Segafredo Arena.
Spanish center Willy Hernangomez dropped 15 points for Barca.
Barcelona, which are currently on the tail of rivals and league leaders Real Madrid, with 9 wins, took a hit during the top spot chase after suffering their second loss.
Virtus Bologna meanwhile climbed to third spot with 7 victories and 4 losses.
