Turkish side Adana Demirspor will be holding a virtual fundraiser event to benefit the victims of last week’s earthquakes, the Turkish Super Lig club said on Tuesday.

Based in one of the 10 southern provinces hit worst by the quakes, Adana Demirspor tweeted that 33,000 tickets would be on sale for the virtual friendly with Italian Serie A club Fiorentina on Thursday.

The club, coached by Italy’s Vincenzo Montella, added that the sides would not be playing a physical match at the Yeni Adana Stadium but rather for charity, with all proceeds to go to quake victims in Türkiye.

Fiorentina is set to visit Portugal’s Braga on Thursday in a UEFA Europa Conference League playoff first leg.

Two massive earthquakes of magnitudes 7.7 and 7.6 struck southern Türkiye on Feb. 6, centered in Kahramanmaras province and hitting nine other provinces – Hatay, Gaziantep, Adiyaman, Malatya, Adana, Diyarbakir, Kilis, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa.

They were also felt in several countries in the region and caused widespread destruction in northern Syria.

Nearly 32,000 people were killed in Türkiye, according to the latest official figures, while the death toll in Syria has topped 3,600.
