Verstappen wins F1 Austrian Grand Prix

ANKARA

Red Bull’s Dutch driver Max Verstappen won Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix, round 10 of the 2023 Formula 1 season.

Verstappen, who started the race on the pole, saw the checkered flag first, completing the 71-lap race in one hour, 25 minutes and 33.607 seconds at Spielberg’s 4.318-kilometer (2.68-mile) Red Bull Ring.

Back-to-back world champion Verstappen, 25, won seven Grands Prix this season and bagged his fifth win in a row.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc came in second as he crossed the line a relatively close 5.155 seconds behind Verstappen.

Verstappen’s Mexican teammate Sergio Perez was third.

Perez was victorious twice this season as he previously won the Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan Grands Prix.

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, round 6 of this season, was canceled due to floods in Italy.

Verstappen has 229 points to lead the Driver Standings. Perez is second with 148 points. Aston Martin’s Spanish driver Fernando Alonso has 129 points to be third.

Red Bull Racing collected 377 points to top the Constructor Standings. Mercedes have 178 points to be second.

Aston Martin have 172 points to be ranked third.

The next race of the season, the British GP, will be held on July 9.
