ANKARA
Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen, already crowned 2024 Formula One World Championship winner, won the Qatar Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Dutchman won the eventful race that featured three Safety Car appearances with 1 hour 31 minutes 05.323 seconds, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc followed him 6.031 seconds behind and Oscar Piastri of McLaren finished third with 6.819 seconds difference from the leader.
Williams’ Franco Colapinto and Alpine Renault’s Esteban Ocon were both casualties at the first lap in an incident with Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg.
In the remainder of the race, Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll and Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez had to quit early as well.
Verstappen leads the driver standings with 429 points, while McLaren’s Lando Norris is at the second spot with 349 points and Leclerc is the third with 341.
The constructor standings is led by Mercedes with 640 points, while Ferrari follow them with 619 points and Red Bull are at the third spot with 581.
