US stocks ended in positive territory Tuesday as major indexes snapped a four-day losing streak.
The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 92.20 points, or 0.28%, to finish at 32,849.74. The S&P 500 added 3.96 points, or 0.10%, to 3,821.62.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq closed almost flat but managed to add 1.08 points, or 0.010%, to close at 10,547.11.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, plummeted 4.2% to 21.48 with rising investors’ confidence. The 10-year US Treasury yield increased 3% to 3.690%.
The dollar index dove 0.7% to 103.94, while the euro rose 0.2% to $1.0628 against the greenback.
Precious metals posted gains, with the price of gold adding 1.7% to $1,818 per ounce and silver jumping 5.1% to $24.16.
Crude oil prices were mixed. Global benchmark Brent crude was flat at $79.78 per barrel. US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude was around $75.98 — up 0.8%.
