US stocks opens higher Thursday

ISTANBUL

US stocks opened higher Thursday.

The Dow rose 301 points, or 0.9%, to open at 34,250 at 9.51 a.m. EDT (1451GMT). The S&P 500 added 37 points, or 0.9%, to 4,155.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq increased 146 points, or 1.23%, to begin the day at 12,056.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was down 2.8% at 19.08, while the 10-year US Treasury yield declined 1.3% to 3.590%.

The dollar index fell 0.67% to 102.72, while the euro rose 0.75% to $1.0789 against the greenback.

Precious metals were on the rise, with gold adding 0.3% to $1,881 per ounce and silver increasing 0.4% to $22.41.

Crude oil prices were down more than 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $84.09 and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $77.49 per barrel.
