Major stock exchanges in the US opened with gains on Monday.
The Dow Jones was up 19 points, or 0.05%, to 34,081 at 9.45 a.m. EDT, while the S&P 500 added five points, or 0.12%, to 4,363.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, increased 51 points, or 0.39%, to 13,529 at the time.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, jumped 3% to 15.35. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 1.8% to 4.638%.
The dollar index decreased 0.02% to 105.00, while the euro gained 0.11% to $1.0741 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold losing 0.33% to $1,986 an ounce and silver rising 0.31% to $23.13.
Oil prices increased around 1.3%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $85.91 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $81.66.
