ISTANBUL
Major US stock market indexes opened Monday with gains.
The Dow Jones rose 155 points, or 0.46%, to 33,530 at 10.17 a.m. EDT (1517GMT). The S&P 500 added 27 points, or 0.69% to 3,999.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq gained 125 points, or 1.13%, to 11,266 points.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 0.15% to 19.82. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 1.1% to 3.523%.
The dollar index added 0.19% to 102.20, while the euro lost 0.05% to $1.0850 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold trimming 0.67% to $1,913 per ounce and silver shedding 4.8% to $22.80.
Crude oil prices were up, with global benchmark Brent crude gaining 0.8% to $88.32 per barrel, and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $81.86 – a 0.3% daily gain.
