US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday welcomed United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan in Washington, DC for talks.
“We discussed economic opportunities, regional security, and humanitarian efforts to mark the growing partnership between the United States and the UAE,” Rubio said on X.
State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said they discussed President Donald Trump’s recent “historic” visit to the Gulf country and the importance of the US-UAE strategic partnership to promote security and prosperity.
Rubio thanked al-Nahyan “for the UAE’s provision of humanitarian assistance and highlighted the imperative of ensuring that Hamas can never rule Gaza or threaten Israel again,” Bruce said.
They also exchanged views on other regional issues, including Syria and Sudan, she added.
