US president, German chancellor discuss Ukraine

ANKARA

US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz discussed over phone support for Ukraine, where Russia continues its “special military operation” since February 2022.

Biden “underscored the enduring strength of the U.S.-German relationship and noted his intention to continue our strong collaboration on geopolitical priorities, including supporting Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression,” the White House said in a brief statement.

Biden canceled his upcoming trip to Germany and Angola on Tuesday to oversee the federal response to Hurricane Milton, thus a high level meeting of the Ramstein group of Ukraine arms donors was postponed.

The Ramstein group was set to meet on the sidelines of Biden’s Oct. 10-13 state visit to Germany.
