US lacks ‘clear solution’ for Ukraine, Belarus making launchers for Russian Oreshniks, president says

MOSCOW

Belarus’ president said Thursday that his country is making launchers for Russia’s latest Oreshnik missile systems and is awaiting delivery of the missiles from Russia.

Aleksandr Lukashenko, who made the comments before meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin, said he discussed production with Putin and learned that launchers are part of the system.

“It turned out that, apart from the rocket, many other things need to be manufactured, and we are doing it in Belarus. We are actually finishing several launchers that are intended for the Oreshnik today. From big brother, we need a missile itself,” he said.

On the war in Ukraine, Lukashenko expressed his belief that the US lacks a clear solution for the country, adding: “They are still conducting surveys.”

He said he expects the Kursk region, which was partially captured by Kyiv last year, to be fully reclaimed from Ukrainian forces within days.​​​​​​​

He also noted that a resolution in Ukraine would only be possible once Russia plays its “Trump cards.”

Asked if a US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire could be a ploy, Lukashenko said: “No, they won’t catch us anymore, and even more so Russia.”

He assessed that Ukraine expects Moscow to turn down the ceasefire proposal to accuse Russia of being unwilling to reach a peace agreement.
