US jobless claims remain unchanged; previous week revised up

ISTANBUL

The number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims was unchanged at 209,000 last week, compared to the previous week’s revised figure, the US Labor Department said Thursday.

The figure was slightly lower than estimates of 210,000, while the previous week’s reading was revised from 207,000 to 209,000.

The four-week moving average was 206,250, a decrease of 3,000 from the previous week’s revised average.

The US economy added 336,000 jobs in September, while the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.8%.
